We bury the boundary
The wire goes in about 5 inches down, around the whole property or just the part you choose. Flags mark it while your dog learns.

The collar speaks first
Near the line, the receiver collar beeps. If your dog keeps going, a static correction follows, set to suit your dog.

GentleSteps™ starts on install day with the beep alone. The correction comes in slowly over about a week, with plenty of treats and praise.

Will it hurt my dog?

It’s a deterrent, so your dog will feel it. It’s designed to startle, not to injure, and it only goes as high as your dog needs. Here is exactly what your dog experiences.

A warning beep comes first

The collar beeps as your dog nears the boundary, so your dog has a chance to turn back.

Day one is beep only

On install day the collar only beeps. The correction comes in gradually over the week, starting at a level most dogs barely notice.

Most dogs end up on the beep alone

Every turn back at the flags earns treats and praise. Most trained dogs end up turning back at the beep alone.

Feel it yourself first

On install day you can feel the correction on your own hand before the collar ever goes on your dog.

If we can’t keep your dog in the yard, you get your money back.

Follow the training plan, tell us if your dog challenges the boundary, and give us a fair chance to adjust the settings. If we still can’t contain your dog in the first 12 months, we refund you.

Is this the same thing as an invisible fence?

Yes. Hidden fence, in-ground fence and invisible fence all describe the same idea: a buried boundary wire and a receiver collar. Invisible Fence® is also a brand name. We install and service Pet Stop® equipment.

Will it work on my stubborn dog?

In 16 years we’ve only had 5 dogs we couldn’t contain, and no breed is turned away. Strong-willed breeds like Huskies and Great Pyrenees take more patience and higher settings, and we can remove the half-second delay between the beep and the correction. If we still can’t contain your dog in the first 12 months, the money-back guarantee applies.

How long does training take, and what do I have to do?

We do the first session with you on install day and leave you a simple plan. Most dogs learn the boundary in about a week of short daily sessions. Some take a few days, some ten or more. Keep your dog on leash near the boundary until the plan says they’re ready, take the collar off at night, and call or text us if anything is unclear. Your free revisit within 30 days is there if you’d like a hand.

What about puppies and small dogs?

Puppies can start at 12 weeks, and there’s no minimum or maximum weight. The receiver weighs about an ounce, or two with the strap, so it suits tiny breeds and giants alike. Every dog starts with just the beep and a treat on day one.

What will my lawn look like after install day?

The trencher cuts a narrow slit and closes it behind itself. Within a week or two you won’t be able to see where the wire went in. Before we start, point out sprinklers, lighting or any other private lines so we can work around them.

How much will mine cost?

Essential is $1,945, Connected is $2,195 and Complete is $2,545, all plus HST. Connected adds the LINK smart collar and app, and Complete adds a LINK transmitter with battery backup. Layouts that need less than 500 feet of wire can come in under the package price.

Can you install in winter?

We install whenever the ground isn’t frozen. In winter we can pin the wire at the surface so training starts right away, then bury it once the ground thaws.

What happens if the power goes out?

The transmitter needs power, so keep your dog supervised until it’s back. The Complete package includes a battery backup that keeps the fence running for 8 to 24 hours, and its LINK transmitter tells you about outages and wire breaks.

Will it keep coyotes or other dogs out?

No. It keeps your dog in. Other animals and people can still come and go, so think of it as containment, not a barrier.
